HISTORICAL FACTS ABOUT THE BUILDING AND THE LOCATION
Sant’Anna Institute was founded in 1864 by an order of nuns called “Suore di Carità dell’Immacolata Concezione d’Ivrea”. That year, the nuns received a request to set up a nursery school. With the passing of the years and thanks to the extension of the building, the institute hosted an Elementary School, a Secondary Junior School (1940), the Teachers’ training School (1981) and the Secondary High School with an emphasis on languages (1988).
Furthermore until 1985, the “Istituto Sant’Anna” hosted the Girls’ Boarding School, several apostolic activities and the parish service. In 2010, Sorrento Lingue moved in the building and the Sant’Anna Institute became the location for all study abroad programs organized in Sorrento.
