Mauro Staccioli At the roots of sculpting
by Luca Massimo Barbero, Marco Bazzini, Gillo Dorfles, Maria Laura Gelmini, Mauro Staccioli
This book is dedicated to Staccioli’s project methodology, his own way
to produce ideas and to develop them to become actual installations and
works of art. From the very first photographic “reconnaissances” in
situ to the first drawings, to the photomontages, to the executive
projects and the actual building phase.
An overview of a selection of Staccioli’s installation arts is
presented by accurate and detailed reports (compiled by Maria Laura
Gelmini by using texts by Staccioli himself) and a rich iconographic
apparatus including drawings, sketches and photos by Staccioli.
The book includes a preface by Gillo Dorfles and texts by Luca Massimo Barbero and Marco Bazzini.
This book is published with the collaboration of the Galleria il
Ponte in Florence and the Galleria d’Arte Niccoli in Parma on the
occasion of the exhibition dedicated to Mauro Staccioli at the Centro
per l’Arte Contemporanea Luigi Pecci in Prato (November 1st 2008 -
January 11th 2009).
Mauro Staccioli (Volterra, Tuscany 1937) dedicated himself to

Venice, Milan, Rome, Florence.
