Luke Anthony is a pseudonym chosen by an Italian medical doctor, Dr. Ugo Cappuzzo, to write about his experiences in China and the unfolding historical events he witnessed. His extraordinary journey started in 1933 as a researcher in Beijing for the Rockefeller Foundation, he saw the coming into power of Mao Tse-Tung, and wrote about it for an Italian newspaper “Il Tempo”, arrested in 1951, he was sent to “The Prison of No Returns” but he survived to tell this harrowing and human account of a chapter of contemporary history.
