What the Pandemic can Teach Us and the New Perspectives It can Open

Current events 160 pages

The Italian most prominent theorist of the “fine degrowth” analyzes the social, economic and ecological consequences of the pandemic and offers a new paradigm which can help us in creating a better future for us and the next generations. The Covid-19 pandemic has triggered the most serious economic crisis of the last century and a very serious health crisis worldwide. Pallante observes the intertwining of all those different crises as the terminal phase of the historical Era which began in the eighteenth century with the Industrial Revolution, and describes its consequences also relating them to the ecological future. Only an economical policy oriented within the limits of the environmental sustainability can overcome all the current crisis opening a new phase in the human history.

Maurizio Pallante has been always focused on the topics of the ecologic sustainability and economic and eviromental balancing, even when they were not “mainstream”. In 2007 he founded in Italy the “Movement for the Fine Degrowht”. He has written several books on those themes, in the last years all with Edizioni Lindau.
