Earlier this month Dario Franceschini, Italian Minister of Cultural Heritage and Activities and Tourism, and Jurgen Boos, Director of the Frankfurt Book Fair, signed an agreement that confirms Italy as the 2023 Frankfurter Buchmesse’s Guest of Honor.
Although the Italian book market underwent a period drastic change in recent years, “a new spirit of optimism can be observed in Italy’s cultural scene right now” says Jurgen Boos. Italy’s exhibition concept that centered on tradition, cultural heritage and furture viability won the show organizers over. Minister Franceschini added that Italy’s role as Guest of Honor holds a symbolic meaning as “it affirms the worldwide appreciation of our creative industry and effectively shows its vitality, cultural strength and economic value.”
